About Us & FAQ
FAQs
Do you offer doggy daycare?
Since I do work full time I do not offer doggy daycare (9-5 type stays).
What sort of Facility do you have?
I offer in-home pet boarding out of my house. I own a house on about half an acre and all guests are treated as my own.
Where are you Located?
I am located in a residential neighborhood about a mile from downtown Saranac Lake, NY. About a 15 minute drive from Lake Placid and 25 minutes from Tupper Lake (address provided upon booking). For those visiting Lake Placid, it is possible to arrange pickup in Lake Placid, depending on my schedule.
Are you home during the day?
Adirondog Vacations is a second job for me. I do work 9-5 during the week and generally do not make it home during the day. Your dog should be OK being left alone up to 8 hours.
Will there be other dogs in the home?
Yes. My dog Cedar is a beagle mix who loves everyone and just wants to have fun. He’s very chill and has gotten along with every dog I’ve ever watched. I will also accept up to three other guests on any given night. All my guests should tolerate other dogs.
I’m getting married in the area! I need someone to watch my dog but also want them in the wedding.
Of course you want your whole family there! If you would like your four legged family member at the ceremony or in pictures, that can be arranged for an additional fee.
What should I bring for my dog?
You should bring your dogs food. Other than that I have just about everything a dog would need, but you are welcome to bring bowls, blankets, beds, toys, etc…
Will my dog be crated?
I do not crate dogs when I am not home, unless it is preferred or necessary. I do keep a XL sized crate (30” x 42”) if needed. I generally say it’s good for dogs up to 80lbs. If you feel your dog would prefer their own crate or needs a larger crate you may bring that as well.
Do you have a fenced in yard?
I do not have a fenced in yard, but I do have both a tie out and a run that our guests often take advantage of in between walks. I have several miles of trails across the street and a 1 mile loop around the lake. So there’s plenty of walking options right out the front door!
My dog has special needs. Is that OK?
Most likely, the answer is YES! Send me a message and we can discuss.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Glenn!
I've lived with dogs since I was 5 years old. Beagles, Dachshunds, Shepards, and currently a beagle mix named Cedar. I've rarely known life without a dog and I wouldn't have it any other way! Cedar and I love adventuring around the Adirondacks and the neighborhood. We live in a big old house (always under renovation!) with a nice yard and public trails just across the street.
I work for the local Visitors Bureau and Cedar works full time as the official four legged ambassador of Adirondog Vacations. Cedar’s been with me since Christmas 2017. He came from Georgia by way of a rescue in Vermont. Whatever his early life was like, it sure didn’t affect his love of dogs, people, squirrel chasing, and all things smelly!
Cedar and I have been welcoming fuzzy guests into our home for a little R&R (while their parents get a littler R&R) since 2018. We’ve met dozens of wonderful dogs and dog parents locally and from all over the Northeast. We’ve gone on day long hiking adventures with our guests, spent hours exploring the yard, introduced tons of dogs to the beauty of a Moody Pond walk, and even had the honor of wrangling a few doggy friends at their mom and dad’s wedding!
Enrichment at Adirondog Vacations
When dogs stay with us, they aren’t in kennels — they’re part of our home. That means they get to stretch out, play, nap on the couch, or follow us into the kitchen just in case a snack falls. Enrichment is a big part of how we care for pups here. It keeps them happy, calm, and engaged, while giving you peace of mind that your dog is not only safe, but thriving.
Puzzle Feeders & Foraging
We’ve pretty much retired the traditional food bowl. Every meal is served in a puzzle, slow, or foraging feeder. We use favorites like the Snoop, KONG Wobbler, Qwizl, Toppl, lick mats, and snuffle mats.
Most dogs dive right in and love the challenge. Some look at us like, “Really? You expect me to work for kibble?” — and we adjust things for them. Either way, mealtime turns into a fun activity that keeps their brains busy.
Toys & Chews
We keep a rotation of durable toys from trusted brands like West Paw, KONG, Chuckit!, SodaPup, Benebone, Petstages, Outward Hound, Ruff Dawg, JW Pet, and Starmark.
Some toys are best for tug or fetch, others for chewing or problem-solving. We love watching dogs pick a favorite — sometimes it becomes “their” toy for the whole stay.
Special Treats
With your permission, we also offer long-lasting chews like bully sticks, pig ears, collagen chews, cow hooves, and our homemade organic dehydrated sweet potato slices (always a hit!). On hot days, we pull out a frozen peanut butter bone — part snack, part project, and always a crowd-pleaser.
Walks & Local Adventures
We’re lucky to live right at the base of Mount Baker, beside the Pines trail network, and just steps from Moody Pond. Walks can be easy neighborhood sniff-sessions or short Adirondack hikes. For your dog, it’s not just exercise — it’s a chance to catch up on the local “pee-mail.”
Agility & Nose Work
One of our dogs enjoys agility (spoiler alert, not Cedar), so we keep equipment on hand. Visiting dogs can give it a try — weaving poles, hopping jumps, or, let’s be honest, just peeing on it like it’s a deluxe fire hydrant.
We also love running scent games like “find it” or hiding treats in snuffle mats. Sniffing is one of the best natural stress relievers, and dogs light up when they succeed.
Calming, Rest & Comforts
Downtime matters too. We use calming scents and “dog music” to help pups relax during fireworks or storms. For naps, dogs can choose from orthopedic memory foam beds, heated beds, soft blankets, our recliner, or the couch. On movie nights, it’s normal to have dogs stretched across the sofa beside us (or right on top of us).
Social & One-on-One Time
Some dogs thrive with playmates, while others prefer people. We supervise all group play to keep things safe, and we make sure every dog gets personal time — whether that’s cuddles, brushing, or just following us around while we make coffee.
Our Philosophy
Every dog is different. Some are adventurers, some are puzzle-solvers, and some are couch potatoes who love belly rubs and TV time. Our job is to make sure each dog feels at home and gets the right kind of enrichment — so their stay here feels like their very own Adirondack vacation.
